More on Lace... or Under It!

Lets talk about that lace dress again, this time let's put our evaluation skills to use.

Well, looking at the dress I can tell that it is long enough and has a high enough neckline.
So the only issues I can find with this dress is that I cannot tell where the skin ends and the fabric begins, because the color of cloth underneath the lace is the same color as her skin; making the woman look naked.


So if we changed the under fabric's color it would be perfectly modest.

Right?  Let's see:

I think that this dress is even more stunning than the previous one!

I Want to Meet Her...

This woman focuses on true beauty. 
She uses the gifts God has given her to help woman feel and look amazing.
Some of the styles they show in this video are on the immodest side. (Making this a perfect time to use your evaluation skills!)
However, I still consider her a very positive role model.

How to Evaluate Clothes

You can still like an outfit that is immodest...

Wait, isn't this counter intuitive to what I have been posting before???

Yes  and  No 

It would be a problem if you just recognized it was cute and wore it anyway.  

This is how I deal with a cute outfit that is immodest:

I evaluate it and alter the outfit 

or 

I try to find an outfit that is similar

but conforms to my modesty standard.

 How do you evaluate outfits?  Well, it's actually pretty simple.

To analyze this outfit I would look at it and think:

"I would love to wear this, but it is too low cut.  If it had a higher cut neckline, I would love to wear this."

Then, I would either wear an undershirt with it or try to find a similar outfit with a higher neckline.

Here is an example of a dress you could wear instead:

You can use the evaluation process with any outfit, here is another example...

"I really like the style of this dress, however I think that it is too short.  It would be better if it touched my knees."

In this situation you would either have to go with another dress, or if you're a sewer you could add white trim at the bottom of it.

Lace... to wear or not to wear???

I love the styles that have incorporated lace over the past years.

However, I have found that this style can easily be turned from beauty into immodesty.

Why? 

 

 I believe it is because our culture closely relates lace to "intimacy". 

For example:

  

If you are ever trying to determine if an outfit is modest or not, here are some tips to help you decide:

1.) Prayer: God always wants to hear from you, ask for guidance.

2.) Ask your parents: talk to your parents about everything and anything, they like to hear from you too!  (Plus, since your Dad is a male, he can give you some insight on what guys are going to think.)

3.) Check your heart: are you wearing this to look attractive or lead a man's eyes to sin? 

I'll say this up front

Hello everyone!

I can guess what you're thinking "Who gives you the right to tell me what and what not to wear!"

                               The response that comes to my mind is "Amen!"

Who does have the right to tell you what is "in" or "out"?
The media seems to think they do, and what do we do...  We listen!  For crying out loud people, those drop crotch pants look like you pooped in them!

Don't get me wrong, I love some of the styles out there right now; but this lie saying that the more you show off, the more beautiful you are is totally and utterly wrong.

Now I'll say this up front, so there is no confusion... 

I have a modesty standard that some of you may or may not agree with; too conservative for some and too liberal for others.

Whatever the case may be, I judge styles.

I do this every day, as I think everyone should.

You should think about the message you are conveying with your body.  Basically: is this style focusing on total beauty or just sex?
 
Some people consider judging to be cruel, but I think that there is a difference between evaluating and condemning.

With all that said, my plan with this blog is to provide positive examples of beauty.
